味噌豆/Can’t stop eating them
Sadakichi works for a rich shop owner.
It’s the weekend and his boss is cooking beans to make his own miso.
“Sadakichi, can you go and check on my beans?”
“Sure!”
Sadakichi goes into the kitchen.
“Umm, the beans look good and smell great.
But are they soft yet?
Maybe I should eat some to check.
They are soft and taste so good.
I’ll just have a few more.”
Sadakichi eats more and more beans.
His boss wonders why Sadakichi is taking so long.
So he goes into the kitchen to check on him.
Sadakichi is still eating.
“Hey, I didn’t tell you to eat the beans.
I told you to check on them.”
“But sir, some beans are cooked and some aren’t.
You want all your beans to be cooked, right?
I’m checking.”
“OK, OK.
You checked them.
Thank you.
Now take this letter to Mr. Yamada.”
“OK, sir.”
Sadakichi takes the letter and leaves.
“He believed me.
I’m a good actor.
Back at the house, the rich man is still in the kitchen.
“I can’t believe that boy ate the beans.
These beans smell great.
I’ll try some.
They are delicious!
Now I understand why Sadakichi couldn’t stop eating them.”
The man puts a lot of beans on a plate.
“Oh, It will be a problem if Sadakichi sees me.
I’ll hide and eat them.
Should I eat them in the room upstairs or in the closet?
Aha, I have an idea.
I’ll go into the toilet and eat them.
No one will see me there.”
The owner goes into the toilet and starts eating the beans.
“The beans taste wonderful.
But it smells terrible in here.
Soon, Sadakichi comes back.
“I’m back.
Hello.
Is anyone home?
No one is home.
Maybe I’ll have some more beans.”
Sadakichi goes into the kitchen and puts some beans on a plate.
He starts to eat them but then he thinks.
“What if my boss sees me?
He will get angry with me.
I will eat the beans in secret.
Where can I eat them?
Should I eat them in the room upstairs or in the closet?
Aha! I can eat them in the toilet.
No one will see me there.”
Sadakichi takes his plate of beans and goes to the toilet.
He opens the door and then.
“Boss!
What are you doing here?”
“I’m using the toilet.
What are you doing here?”
“I brought you some more beans!”
